Introduction to different ranges of use of ROM and RAM
RAM-RandomAccessMemory volatile random access memory, high-speed access, read and write time is equal, and has nothing to do with the address, such as computer memory.
ROM-Read Only Memory read-only memory. Information is not lost after a power failure, such as a BIOS chip used by a computer. The access speed is very low (in comparison to RAM) and cannot be overwritten. Because information cannot be rewritten and cannot be upgraded, it is rarely used.
EPROM, EEPROM, Flash ROM (NOR Flash and NAND Flash), same performance as ROM, but rewritable. Generally speaking, reading is faster than writing, and writing requires higher voltage than reading (reading 5V to write 12V). Flash can read and write at the same voltage, and has a large capacity and low cost. Today it is widely used in U disk and MP3. In a computer system, RAM is generally used as a memory, and ROM is used to store some hardware drivers, that is, firmware.
RAM is volatile random access memory;
The ROM is a non-volatile read-only memory;
